Popular Options For a Wide Range of Lawns

Each lawn has its own personality and its own special needs.  Depending on your location, the landscape of your yard, your family lifestyle, and your desired look, you can choose one of several grass varieties for your lawn.

St. Augustine Varieties
Light to medium green in color, St. Augustine varieties, including Floratam, Seville, and Bitter Blue, generally grow fast, establish themselves rapidly and require only low to moderate maintenance.  Give your St. Augustine lawn a good soaking every three to six days to bring out its eye-catching tones.

  • Floratam St. Augustine - A popular choice among Florida homeowners, Floratam is adaptable to many soil conditions.  With a plush appearance, Floratam thrives in direct sunlight.

  • Seville St. Augustine - Blue-green in color with excellent color retention, Seville tolerates salt, shade, and drought well.  Its long leaf blade gives it a unique appearance preferred by many homeowners.

  • Bitter Blue St. Augustine - A great option for shady lawns.  Its dark blue-green tone makes Bitter Blue a regal choice for your lawn.  Its slow growth rate means you mow less often. With good cold weather tolerance, Bitter Blue is an excellent all-weather grass.

Fescue
Considered a cool-season grass, Fescue delivers a medium- to dark-green color with a turf that's moderately dense.  A good play lawn for families with kids, Fescue can hold its own and makes a wonderful choice for commercial landscapes, roadsides, sports fields, and more.  Fescue prefers full sun, but is suited to cooler climates.

Centipede
A popular option in most hot, southern areas (except the northern Florida peninsula); Centipede delivers an attractive, dense lawn with a beautiful medium-to dark-green color. If you prefer looking at your yard more than working in it, Centipede is a wonderful choice for you due to its very low maintenance requirements.  With a slow growth rate, Centipede requires minimal mowing.  In addition, its complex root system means Centipede is relatively drought resistant and is aggressive enough to compete with and overtake weeds.
